A.R.M. stands for Anonymous Relief Mission which is a non-profit organization located in Kent Ohio that does some cool stuff for people in transitional situations of their lives. ARM helps locate, arrange, and deliver furniture, beds, toys, food, electronics, and other household items for people moving into housing from homelessness, Veteran's shelters, and shelters for Women and children located in Portage county. Making the jump through the system into new housing can be a very stressful process... ARM volunteer's get to arrange all the items that come from donations, deliver them to the new homes, and help friend's in need through the transition. They do this for no other reason than to be a friend and lend a helping hand anonymously without religious or political agenda's attached. See the website for more info:

Purpose:

The purpose of A.R.M. Fest is to raise some funds and awareness for A.R.M. and to contribute and participate in the DIY music community in the process which we are honored to be a part of and firmly believe in.

Message to the bands:

A few things to keep in mind:

1. Tim Gerak (SixPartsSeven, and Mammoth Cave studio in Akron, OH) will be one of the sound engineer's this year for ARMfest.
See work he has done at: mammothcavestudio.com or myspace.com/sixpartsseven

2. If you are not a local band we are working on having several houses available to have you stay in if you're not in the mood to camp. (that invitation is open to anyone traveling from afar to participate in ARMfest that isn't up for camping either). Gas Money will be provided to the bands and a Potluck is in the works.

3. There will be around 25 bands and we just ask out of respect for the other participating groups that you honor the set times please, we are shooting for 25-30 minute sets with 10 minutes for set-up. And diy lovers will be there to help you carry your gear. We Love you.

4. If you would prefer to play either Friday or Saturday please email us at Jessesloan@sbcglobal.net or message us at Myspace.com/akronkentconnection and let us know.

Food:

If you would like to participate, we are trying to turn this into a POTLUCK as well. Please just be ready to specify ingredients of what you bring for our vegetarian and vegan family members. And since it will be in the middle of summer, feel free to bring lemonade. ARMfest will be a drug and alcohol free event. Water will be provided by the Vineyard as well as bread and pastries from donation.
